Swiss designer Albert Kriemler honored by F.I.T. Couture Council

Valmont Skincare and Osswald were proud to sponsor as The Couture Council of The Museum at FIT honored Akris Creative Director Albert Kriemler with its 2016 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at an award luncheon at the Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Albert Kriemler was selected to receive the 2016 Couture Council Award for his commitment to outstanding craftsmanship and his dedication to creating well-tailored, wearable pieces that blend luxury with functionality. His vision has contributed to the expansion of his family’s brand and attracted powerful women such as Angelina Jolie, Princess Charlene of Monaco, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

“Since my first visit to New York, I have made every effort not to miss an exhibition at The Museum at FIT,” said Albert Kriemler. “Valerie Steele (pictured with AK here) and her team succeed in creating pioneering and unexpected exhibitions with a creativity and courage that continue to fascinate and surprise.

Albert Kriemler has spearheaded fashion design at Akris for over 30 years. During that time, his ability to combine innovation with comfortable wearability has led to a subtle, sleek and modern aesthetic that appeals to a sophisticated, cultivated woman.
In addition to the Akris Collection, Albert Kriemler creates the Akris Punto line and the accessories collection. Akris has been showcased on the runway in Paris since 2004.
Nowadays, says the designer, fashion “basically has to be simple because we live in times that are complicated enough as it is.”
