The name is inspired from a novel by Julien Gracq published in 1951, translated in English as "the opposing shore". Set in a fictitious Mediterranean port city, The Opposing Shore is the first-person account of a young aristocrat sent to observe the activities of a naval base. The constant reverie of the main character about the luxuriant surrounding nature inspired a complex olfactive construction.
